These are the best things I’ve seen on the internet this week (no promises they were written the week featured). This regular Friday installment will be full of the awesome theological, creative, interesting, thought-provoking, ethically-challenging, or just ridiculously cool or funny things I rip from the threads of the inter-webs each week. Feel free to challenge me, or add your own in the comments.
#1 :: Go ahead, Every Kid needs a Cell phone
In perhaps the greatest single moment on television this week, Louis C K speaks absolute truth. It’s perhaps a great parenting moment, and a great moment about the life flow of the universe wrapped into some wicked funny moments. Sadness being met face on. Priceless!
#2 :: The Danger of a Single Story
I ran across this TED talk from 2009 by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie that speaks into a lot of circumstances and raises a lot of questions for me. What is the single story that most people are told about Christianity? I would argue that it’s mostly the one propagated by the GOP. So how do we learn to tell more stories about Christianity. How do we raise our children to learn about other cultures and places that contain much more than a single story?
#3 :: What a story of Redemption!
What a story of redemption! This is a powerful testimony about women and sex trafficking in Nashville. It speaks wide and far on the issue and actually contains a church (or at least a pastor) who is responding from the heart of Christianity. Thistle Farms is a powerful ministry, that if you haven’t heard from Becca Stephens is doing there you should. Go check it out NOW!
And just for kicks…
#0 :: A powerful photographic story
This photographer’s wife got Cancer, and he captured an extremely powerful set of images. He wanted to humanize the face of cancer on the face of his wife. The photos speak for themselves.
